About Mochi

Personality: Affectionate, Brave, Curious, Friendly, Funny, Gentle, Loves

Mochi, our 25 pound 4 year old French Bulldog, was surrendered due to chronic ear infections. The inflammation scarred her ear canals shut and Mochi was in constant pain. Thanks to the @1510Foundation for covering Mochi's care in it's entirety, we were able to get her in for surgery. Mochi had both of her ear canals removed in a procedure called a TECA - Mochi is finally pain free (although completely deaf).

We've very much enjoyed getting to know Mochi. Her best descriptor is "Velcro Dog"; if anyone is around, Mochi will attempt to get as close as physically possible. When left alone, Mochi is crate trained and quiet. Mochi is a champ about peeing outside but feels most comfortable pooping on a potty pad at home.

Out and about, Mochi is everyone's biggest fan. She will go anywhere to cheer people on: marathons, bar patios, family functions - no one is a stranger. Mochi is very comfortable on leash and seems to like all dogs too. We have not seen Mochi with cats but we can't imagine Mochi disliking anyone.

Like most Frenchies, Mochi struggles with breathing. Her trachea is too small and her face is too flat. Due to this, Mochi's daily step goal is pretty low. She'll happily go on walks, but not very far, and when she's done then Mochi is DONE. Mochi never runs out of energy for snorting or snoring though and will happily do that all day (preferably directly into her person's face).

Mochi has a history of regurgitation; another common affliction of the breed. We have gotten this under control with antacids, a mild prokinetic and a bland, canned diet. Mochi also likely has environmental allergies (which would explain her poor ears). She does great with Cytopoint injections; these control her symptoms. Budget around 90-100 dollars a month for medications for Mochi.

Mochi is heartworm negative and current on her preventatives.
