About Gus

Gus, our 1 year old 12 pound chiweenie, was just over 6 pounds when he was found abandoned in an apartment. Tragically, someone moved out but didn't take Gus; nor did they leave him any food. Despite this rough beginning, Gus is a brave little dog. He's been with us for about a month and with several meals under his belt, we've doubled his size! Now Gus is ready for a safe place of his own.

Loving, friendly and energetic, Gus is a delight. We suspect he'd never been potty trained, so he is still working on that, but is making leaps and bounds. Since we've neutered him, he's also marking a lot less. Just proves that dog testicles never did any good for anyone.

Gus seems to like most dogs and tries to play with cats. A dog savvy cat friend in his house would likely be fine. He is crate trained (with some initial complaints) and sleeps through the night. Gus loves leash walks and would be fun to take on adventures. Very affectionate, Gus leads all cuddle sessions with his best attribute: his butt. The key to Gus's heart is a good booty scratch.

Understandably, Gus can be protective of his food. This is getting better as he recognizes that meals keep coming. However, because of this, we recommend a house with patient dog friends and no little kids.

Gus is heartworm negative and current on his heartworm preventative.

Not shy about rubbing dog booties? If you provide our Gus with breakfast and dinner, he promises to shove his butt at you on the regular.
