About Benjamin

Personality: Affectionate, Friendly, Dignified, Funny, Gentle, Independent, Loves, Playful

Benjamin, our 5 year old 43 pound mix (poodle and border collie perhaps?), has the personality and hobbies of a kindly grandfather. He enjoys bird watching, gardening, gossiping with friends on a patio, and snacks. We think most of us can relate to that list. Our longest resident Stumpy, Benjamin is ready to be adopted at last.

Prior to his surrender, Benjamin had sustained injuries to both of his knees. Similar to ACL tears in people, Benjamin had ligament damage that was causing arthritis and chronic pain. Thanks to the @1510Foundation for covering his care in it's entirety, we were able to get Benjamin into the surgeon. He's now recovered from his bilateral TPLO surgery and is so much more comfortable. Although his right hind leg may always be a little stiff, Benjamin's been cleared for going back to normal activity. Like the retirees we know with brand new knees, Benjamin can't wait to get out on the town.

Our Benjamin has been an ideal guest. He loves all people and all dogs. Leash trained and not reactive, Benjamin's tail wags at everyone he sees. At home, Benjamin is fine to be left alone. He's not destructive (but he will take advantage of food left on the counter) and is potty trained.

A smart fellow, Benjamin knows several commands. He's mastered sit, down, stay, come and high-five. He is a goofy, tremendously snuggly guy who is as gentle as he is adorable. All good vibes from our Benjamin. We have not seen Benjamin with cats, but we could do an introduction if needed.

Benjamin is heartworm negative and current on his flea and heartworm preventatives. His adopter will want to continue his strength training as he gets stronger and should be prepared to do exercises with him at home. We'll show you how. His adoption fee is $400.

Brand new year, brand new knees, brand new best friend?
