Veterinary Team

Stumptown Strays was founded by veterinarians who are dedicated to providing life-saving care to shelter dogs and helping them find their forever homes.

My career with animals started over 25 years ago as a volunteer at the Humane Society. I knew then that I would never stop working to help homeless pets.

After graduating from veterinary school in 2005, I dedicated myself to volunteering my services to local animal rescues and fostering dozens of dogs on their way to their forever homes.

Founding Stumptown Strays combines my years of experience with shelter dogs and dream to help as many as I can and turns it into a reality.

I started my work with animals more than 30 years ago as a veterinary assistant, eventually working my way through veterinary school and starting my career as a veterinarian in Portland, Oregon.

It has been a goal of mine throughout my career to be able to give back to the underserved dogs in shelters and rescues who need affordable medical care.

With years of fostering dogs and providing care and rehabilitation to shelter dogs, I am excited to be able to start Stumptown Strays.

I was drawn to stray and injured animals as a child and now with over 20 years in the veterinary field, I found a special niche in Stumptown Strays.  Along with my medical background as well as years of fostering animals of all types, I’m thrilled to be involved with a medical rescue so we can help as many shelter animals as possible on their way to finding their forever homes.

I am a lifelong animal lover who has worked in the veterinary field for over 16 years. Participating in a medically-based rescue with Stumptown Strays has renewed my passion for helping animals in need and for giving back to the community. In my off time, I enjoy exploring the outdoors with my husband and two amazing dogs.

I was one of those people who didn’t really know what I wanted to do with my life, even after my college graduation. I decided to try out a job at a veterinary clinic, and it was the best decision I’ve ever made. Nine years later, my passion for helping animals has only grown, and I couldn’t be more grateful for the opportunity to help dogs in need through Stumptown Strays. With three rescue pets of my own, it is immensely fulfilling to give my time and skills to other pets who need a little extra help finding their own forever homes.

I’ve always had an open heart for animals. I grew up riding horses, trying to save injured wild birds, and befriending all the dogs and cats I could. Now an adult with my own rescue pittie, I’m thrilled to be helping Stumptown Strays spread their incredible mission.

Ever since I was a kid, I’ve had a special connection to animals. I now spend most of my days attached to my two rescue chihuahuas and remotely help Stumptown Strays with their website needs.

The Exemplars
