Maybelline, our 39 pound 1 year old pitty/bulldog mix, is working on "respecting healthy boundaries". She suspects this means "maintain full eye contact with your person while they pee"? Like we said, she's working on it. While she does, we'll work on getting her a home.

Found stray, Maybelline needed help. She was very snorty and had a hard time breathing. Thanks to the @1510foundation for covering her care in it's entirety, we were able to get Maybelline into a specialist. There, they diagnosed her with an elongated soft palate - this means the soft part in the back of her throat was dangling down and blocking her airways. They were able to surgically repair this, and Maybelline can breathe so much better! 

Maybelline also had a sinus scope. She congenitally has narrow nasal passages (like a lot of bulldog mixes) that build up too much mucus. Maybelline will forever be a bit of a mouth-breather. However, she can do all the same things other dogs can do - provided it isn't too hot out. 

To say Maybelline is friendly is a bit of an understatement. She wants to cuddle so hard that she becomes one with her person. Like we said, "healthy boundaries" is not her forte. She loves people, including kids. Because she wants to jump up to say hello, tiny kids may get knocked over. Maybelline is respectful of cats and LOVES other dogs. We think she would really like living with another playful pup. Maybelline is good on a leash (pulls a little) and likes adventures. At home, she is almost perfectly potty trained. She loves stuffies and chews and will happily chase a ball. Bring the ball back though? No thank you.

Maybelline doesn't like being alone. She'll need an adopter who can continue to work with her on this - and we will provide behavioral support! She's come a long way since she's been on Prozac and we recommend she continue the medication for the time being. It is inexpensive. 

Maybelline is heartworm negative and current on her preventatives. Her adoption fee is $200.
