Freya, our 3 year old Saint Bernard, is 103 pounds. This is 90 pounds heavier than the ideal lap dog, but don't bother telling Freya that. She's happiest when she's as close to her people as possible - being a lap dog is simply a case of mind over matter.

Surrendered to the shelter when her owner died, we were asked to help because Freya had a sizable mass on her hip. We removed that mass (and cleaned up her teeth while we were at it) and discovered that it was a benign fatty tumor - cured with the removal. Freya is recovered from her procedure and has fresh breath; perfect for making out.

Freya is extremely friendly. She also is pretty demanding when it comes to asking for attention. Freya will push her big head into available hands until they succumb. When she's not asking for attention, Freya is a couch potato. She is house trained, not destructive and will hold down the love seat until you get home.

Freya is good with cats and dogs, although she may be more indifferent to dogs than anything. If there is nothing to pull towards (other people to say hi to, dogs to say hi to), Freya is great on a leash. However, she does pull if she's motivated. Her adopter should be prepared to do some training with her. Her adopter should also be prepared to handle the typical Saint Bernard stubborn streak. Good thing our Freya is already mostly perfect.

Freya is heartworm negative and current on her flea and heartworm preventatives.
